Please be aware, our MCP is in Beta. Expect bugs. Please share anything you find, or any feedback in general, to [email protected].
Connect the Built for Mars MCP, and your AI assistant gets a direct line to everything on BFM. It can search the library, find content you haven’t read yet, give you UX feedback grounded in actual BFM research, bookmark things, and more. Currently works with:
  • Claude
  • Claude CLI
  • ChatGPT
  • Codex
  • Windsurf (Antigravity)
  • VS Code
  • Cursor
  • Lovable
  • Figma Make
The MCP requires an active Built for Mars subscription.

What it can do

  • Find content
    • Both broadly (“find me examples of”)
    • And specifically (“I want the latest UX Bites”
  • Filter by things you’ve not seen
  • Generate UX Insights
  • Save content to your library
  • Create UX Pathways
As an example, you can simply ask Lovable (or Figma Make) to find relevant UX ideas, and it’ll be able to find and implement them straight into your projects. Or, for example, you could ask Claude to find relevant items and turn them into a custom UX Pathway (a mini learning module).

The tools

When your AI agent interacts with our MCP, you’ll see it use different tools. This is what each of them do:

1. Find content

Search by topic, company, or keyword. Works with natural, conversational requests.
“Find me case studies about checkout flows” “Pull up the Monzo UX Bite” “Anything on dark patterns?“

2. Get the latest content

Ask what’s new — filtered by type if you want.
“What’s the most recent UX Bite?” “Latest case studies on onboarding”

3. Discover what you’ve missed

Finds content you haven’t read yet, filtered against your account activity.
“What BFM content haven’t I seen?” “Unread case studies about notifications”

4. Get UX insights

Share a screenshot, describe a problem, or paste a URL. Your assistant will pull in relevant BFM lessons and give you feedback that’s actually backed by research — not just vibes.
“Review this checkout flow using BFM principles” “Here’s a screenshot of our onboarding — what would you change?” “What does BFM say about progress indicators?“

5. Bookmark content

Save specific items to your BFM library without switching tabs.
“Bookmark that Revolut case study”

6. Create learning Pathways

Build a structured learning module on any topic, saved to your BFM account.
“Create a Pathway on reducing drop-off at checkout” “Build me a course on notification design”

Before you start

You’ll need:
  • An active BFM+ membership
  • A Built for Mars account to authenticate during setup

Usage and limits

The MCP server eats from the same token limit associated to your BFM+ account.
P.S., token usage with the MCP is tiny. You’re far more likely to hit Claude / Lovable token limits than max out our MCP.
There are rate limitations in place (to stop people crawling the entire database every minute).
